Peloton Project Information
I have experienced many emotions since being diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, from the initial shock when I first heard the words 'nodular sclerosing' applied to me, to the dread I experienced when going in for my first chemo treatment, to the hope I feel when I talk to people just like me who have fought and beaten the disease. But one thing that has been in the back of my mind since I began is a desire to help others who are facing a similar struggle.
I've decided to join forces with the Lance Armstrong Foundation to help with their mission of enhancing the quality of life for those living with, through, and beyond cancer. Diagnosed at age 25 with testicular cancer, Lance was given a fifty percent chance to live. The world-class cyclist faced enormous odds and uncertainty about his future, but from the moment of his diagnosis he declared himself a cancer survivor, not a cancer victim. He took an active role in educating himself about his disease. Armed with knowledge and confidence in medicine, he underwent aggressive treatment and beat the cancer.
In 1999, the world witnessed one of the greatest comebacks in sports history when Lance won the Tour de France. For the sports fans among you, you may be aware that he recently won this grueling race for the fifth time in as many years.
If you would like to help with the fight, you can make an instant and secure online donation on the Foundation’s website. As a new visitor, you will be asked to register, and then you can follow the "Sponsor a Peloton member" link and choose my name.
Please feel free to contact me if I can answer any questions about this project, or if you would like to share other ideas about how to support the fight against cancer.
